Volunteer Center

Families of players in our club are encouraged to get involved for the fun and partnership of the game. As well, the increased participation by our members, helps subsidize our operating costs in that we can avoid contracting out paid services. The sharing of the workload within the club also helps us from "over-using" and "burning-out" active members.  See and print volunteer schedule for areas to get involved with to help the club.

All age brackets require a $50 volunteer deposit check (separate check) per family, which will be returned to you at the end of the season (6/15/08) as long as you fill the required 4 hours of volunteer time.

Please print this form below to record the areas that you had volunteered to help.  Again Thank-You

TYSA Wants YOU…                          ….. AS A VOLUNTEER!!!!

The Tomah Youth Soccer Association (TYSA) is comprised entirely of volunteers.  We are very interested in improving our club to better serve our players. We would not be able to function without individuals like you who dedicate their time to the organization. There are numerous ways that you can help. Some jobs are on the field, others are administrative, some are seasonal or once a year. Even if you don't have a soccer background, there are many things that you can contribute toward the betterment of your child's club. If you can pull a string straight to help set up fields, we can use you!

The following is a partial list of volunteer positions  -

 -          Board Members

o        There is currently a position open on the board for the Referee Representative.  The Refs Rep is responsible for the development of refs and for assigning refs to games.    If you are interested in a position on the board please contact a current board member ASAP.

-          Coaching

o         The TYSA is always looking for volunteers to be coaches.  Training and coaching clinics are available to assist.

-          Equipment Handout-Turn in

o        Each season the equipment must be organized, set-up, and then taken back in at the end of the season.  This isn’t hard work but it does take time.

-          Team Parent

o        There have been several questions about what a team parent is.  Each team should have a Team Parent.  Among other things Team Parents organize snacks and drinks, hand out schedules, and make arrangements for car-pooling.  Let your players’ coach know that you want to be a Team Parent.

-          TYSA Tournament Workers

o        There is a lot of work that goes in to setting up and tearing down after a tournament.   Concession stands, first aid stands, referee stands, registration stands, goals, etc. ,all need to be set up on the Friday night  before the tournament and then taken down Sunday evening.  Workers are needed through out the tournament to man the registration and first aid tents.

-          Concessions

o        The Spring Season consists of 5 weekends of games as well as the Tomah Tournament.  For the regular season games the concessions will be open for 4 hours breaking it down to 2, 2-hour shifts.  2 workers are needed for each shift.  During the tournament there are 2 concession stands that are open a total of 19 hours.

-          Field Maintenance

o        The City of Tomah Parks and Recreation does an excellent job keeping our fields mowed and painted but there is plenty of work to do beyond that.  Goals need to be set up and maintained, nets need to be prepared, sticks need to be picked up after storms, and corner flags need to be checked.

-          Field Marshal

  • During the tournament 5 to 6 Field Marshals are used at a time.  Generally in a 2 to 3 hour block.  Field Marshals are the “go-to” person for any problems that arise on the fields to include; enforcing safety rules or field conditions requiring maintenance, keeping the games on time, assisting the referees when needed with fan or coach issues, and contacting first aid when needed.

The Tomah Youth Soccer Association prides itself on being a community of soccer families who are dedicated to supporting the growth of our children through their love of soccer and youth sports. Each family is expected to support all the teams in the TYSA through volunteering time or donating toward the cost of operations.
